1970/H VOLKSWAGEN "EARLY BAY" WESTFALIA CAMPERVAN

I wonderful example of a USA supplied Californian dry state “early bay” camper van – Not to be confused with the all too common tired vans built on a shoe string budget.

This beautifully presented camper was imported from California a little over 10 years ago before being restored. This example upon arrival in the UK remained in excellent condition with zero corrosion which made it the perfect project. This ultimately shows in the quality of end product.

Essentially this van has been built as a 3 and a half berth. With a rock and roll bed 3/4 bed, hammock in the Westfalia roof, and childs hammock across the front seats. As internal fittings include on-board water tank, sink with electric tap/pump, 2 gas cooker rings and lots of storage. The cooker/sink unit is also removable allowing for further space inside the van when you get to your camping destination!

Other than the interior this van also has a fantastic spec. The 1600cc twin port engine has been built with twin carbs, electronic ignition and with an alternator and provides ample power on today’s roads through its smooth changing 4 speed gearbox. The ride height has been lowered very slightly to give a more appealing stance while being fitted with chrome Porsche 356 steel wheels which set the vehicle off beautifully.

A beautiful usable camper ready for that trip to Cornwall and beyond !
