Ninja Chim” ? Seems reasonable, given that this very sound TVR Chimaera 4.5 Litre is finished in Starmist Green with a lot more green throughout the car plus unusual, for a Chim, serious looking anthracite alloys. And OK, the car isn’t a Mk 3 but it has been revised to carry sleek Ninja suitable Covered Headlights. All in all, this Chim 450 makes rather more of a statement than your average Chimaera !

And T68SSX is far from average. First of all the condition is extremely presentable – even in those areas that don’t normally stand close inspection. This car has been cherished and upgraded all the way through its life and is definitely a front runner amongst Chimaeras !

The Bodywork is in exceptional condition and finished in gleaming Starmist Green. And this is complemented by an interior trimmed in Ocean Green and Magnolia half hide with carpets in Fern Green throughout extending onto the Door centres., These are further trimmed in Green on their Uppers and Magnolia below the waistline. The colour selections are good and clearly work well with the Green Mohair Roof – which is also in first class condition and equipped with a very well preserved Vybak window.

The dashboard is finished in Carbon - definitely more Ninja than Burr Walnut veneer - and in perfect harmony with the Carbon inner surface of the Targa Roof Panel. The dashboard instrumentation features bright white faces which benefit from the full complement of Leven Technology - aluminium instrument rings, control stalks, air vent surrounds , gear and handbrake levers . control knobs and buttons. This “statement” array even extends to a full set of machined and fully adjustable footpedals .

The car’s ICE is provided by an Alpine CDA 9885R Head Unit, which offers an MP3 facility and features an in-dash, single slot CD facility playing through 4 Pioneer Speakers. As previously stated, this TVR is a significant step up from the common or garden Chimaera !!

And when you open the bonnet, the “wow” factor keeps on rolling. The engine bay has been extensively “dressed” – underlining the fact that more than one owner (as supported by the available invoices !) set great store in the painstaking preparation of the car’s mechanical equipments. OK. the Rocker Covers and the plenum chamber may be finished in a non standard colour, but there is no gainsaying the standard of their execution. In addition, the cooling hoses are all silicone and colour-matched to the HT leads and there is a plethora of other enhancements. These include reflective heat shields, and polished components including Gloss Silver and clear coated Tanks - and the piece de resistance, the Zircotec ‘Performance Antique Silver’ coated Exhaust manifolds and Y piece Collector!

And Yes, T68 SSX does have a very well protected chassis - with new outriggers installed in August 2017 – plus Nitron shock absorbers and Power Assisted Steering . The alloys are standard, in unmarked anthracite, and shod with Toyo Proxes T1R tyres, which have covered just 2,700 miles. And the car will be fully Optiline-aligned before it is handed over to its next owner. So this is a Chimaera with a very well honed ride and handling compromise – pure Ninja !

This car was first registered on 9 Jun 1999. It has had only 5 owners during its short (;-) ) 19 years life and has covered just under 53,000 miles in that time – or less than 2,800 miles per year.

The most recent owner acquired the vehicle in 2017 and drove it just under 1,500 miles before deciding to Part Exchange “Ninja Chim” (our name for the car, not his !) for a Jet Black TVR Tuscan Mk 1 4.0S in equally beautiful condition. The reason for the sale was simply his wish to experience the characteristics of a Speed Six –engined TVR !

T68 SSX is equipped with TVR's well respected 4.5 Litre V8 engine. Many say that the 4.5 litre engine – developing 285 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 310 ft lbs of torque at 4,500 rpm - is the one to own. The 4.0 litre is “calmer” and the 5.0 litre - with 35 bhp but only 20 ft lbs more torque - can be a bit more temperamental . Compared to the 5.0 litre, the 4.5 is only half a second slower to 60 mph (4.7 secs) and only a second slower to 100 mph (11.2 secs). OK , the 5.0 litre is claimed to reach 175 mph, but the 4.5 litre’s top speed of 160 mph is still very respectable !!
